
Katherine
Stanek was born in Oak Park, Illinois and lived in the Chicago area until her early twenties. Pursuing work and
education, Katherine relocated to Philadelphia where she held a full time corporate management position while attending classes
part time at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 2002, Katherine enrolled in the certificate program at
The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts receiving a 4-year merit scholarship for her studies.
While attending the Pennsylvania Academy, Katherine exhibited
her work at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and several open and juried group shows at the Pennsylvania Academy
of Fine Arts where she was twice honored with The Perez and Mary Epstein Prize in figurative sculpture (2005, 2006) and received several
merit awards in sculpture and draftsmanship including; The Pennsylvania Academy Fellowship Trust Award for Outstanding Achievement
(2006), The Plastic Club Membership Prize, (2006), The Stimson Sculpture Award (2006), The Mindel Caplan Kleinbard
Award for Outstanding Student (2006) and The Ramborger Prize for Draftsmanship (2003).
In 2006, immediately upon graduation, Katherine exhibited eight bronze
and concrete works as a solo sculptor at the JMS Gallery in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania and her work was selected
for outdoor public exhibition in downtown Ithaca, New York. Throughout 2007 and 2008 Katherine exhibited her sculpture
in several group and juried shows including Soho20 Chelsea in New York and The Plastic Club in Philadelphia where she
was awarded the Leona Karp Braverman Award at the 110th Annual Invitational Exhibition of the Fellowship
of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (2008) and received honorable mentioned for two different works
at The Plastic Club's 96th Annual Members' Medal Show (2008).
Katherine's work
can be seen at The Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia, The Noyes Museum of Art Gallery in downtown Hammonton, NJ
and in the sculpture gardens of Burlington County College in Pemberton, NJ as well as the gardens of The Noyes
Museum in Oceanville NJ.
Katherine currently lives and works in New Jersey and is represented by The Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia.
