Concrete Sculptures
Sculpture first captured my interest because of the invigorating physical
nature of the process. My recent work is constructed primarily of concrete as it fosters this relationship between me
and my material. With its changing properties and flexibility I am composing and creating in every stage of development
modeling cement like clay, molding it like plaster and carving it like stone. The changing properties of the material
and my response to the same gives life to my work and the marriage of craftwork and creativity with every stage of development
enables me to be a part of that life. Even with editions, each sculpture is unique reflecting spontaneous decisions
until the final image. I develop different mixtures to produce different results giving a single image limitless options
while maintaining the integrity of the material.
